And although this sounds pretty near perfect, there were several antivirus providers that did better. In its latest real-world protection report dated July-August 2020, Avast blocked 99.7% of the widespread malicious samples used in the test. Possibly the most well-known one is AV-Comparatives. Like a lot of industry-leading antivirus providers, Avast pays to have its products included in tests done by independent labs. Changes won't stick.What did we find out during our Avast research? Sadly, Powershadow won't work for windows later than XP. ![]() If a permanent change is needed, like an antivirus or windows update, I restart with Powershadow and Sandboxie off, make the change, then "Shadow up" and charge off to the internet. Also faster and less involved that using a VM. ![]() Okay, it's a bit clumsy, takes getting used to. Has happened that a suspected virus stopped and restarted this computer, but was all gone after restart. They say on shutdown, but I bet it's done at restart. Powershadow removes everything on restart. Can see gobs of changes in the sandbox, but all go away after restart. Only run them Sandboxed when Powershadow is running, so no changes ever persist. I have Opera and Firefox portable folders installed to a folder in "C.My Documents".
